Here's a little recap of what a good weekend is to me:

#1 Exercise

We went on two 40 km bike rides this weekend, so proud of my mom! 62 and keeps pace with us

# 2 Water

I am a water baby, I love water, pools, ponds, lakes, oceans, I'm there!

<img border="0" height="225" m$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd7H6as-2amm7-ru5iBvX-TP0A6mWMUawuMtVVZE16XDZQ2fZbs2QUEgKjrpNCOuYzxsPfyInoDZVG33pXzKYMh80N32L4XCR0Nsf4C2yUGHThy6H6rfLpkaxCfK9cS-UEZ32dZVPrREo/s320/sunsets.jpg" width="320" />

Wine unpictured...forgot to take picture still new at all this!

There was also plenty of delicious food to go around. The only thing that could have made it better was if my bf was able to come. Unfortunately he is super busy with training for a new job this month. Hopefully August will bring more weekend getaways together.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!One step at a timehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00338580119451759583noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5969801429008284675.post-42714520535684414342011-07-04T17:11:00.000-04:002011-07-04T17:11:27.143-04:00Thoughts on the home work out movementBeing a student I am always trying to save money, but one thing I hate to compromise on is physical activity. Honestly, exercise (in moderation), keeps me sane and happy, when I am inactive for prolonged periods of time I become irritable. My boyfriend and I love our gym, but not the price (75$ monthly/each). Really there is nothing special about it we just feel really comfortable there as oppose to big box gyms like Extreme fitness. The people are friendly, always familiar faces and I don't feel like I need to put on make-up and get dressed up to workout.

I don't look like this when I work out:

Seriously, my face gets insanely red when I workout.

Lately a few friends of mine are hooked on BODYROCKTV. From what I understand it looks as though they post a new workout everyday and they are relatively quick (under 45 min or so?). The best part is it is FREE. However I do think you need to buy a timer and maybe some equipment?

Do you have a gym membership? use videos? Website? or just take advantage of the great outdoors? I would love to hear some opinions on the subject!

Also...how do I respond to comments?One step at a timehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00338580119451759583noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5969801429008284675.post-37364648809153075542011-07-03T17:15:00.000-04:002011-07-03T17:15:37.739-04:00Trying again! So I didn't get off to a great start when I attempted to start this blog a year ago, but there is no harm in trying again. I feel that I got so caught up with the first year of my programme that I had trouble balancing all other elements of my life. I am hoping that this year will go smoother as I have a better idea of how to manage my time.

The long weekend is just wrapping up and I am having trouble believing its July already. Most holiday weekends are usually spent doing one of the following:

At my parents farm outside of Toronto..

<img border="0" height="239" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNIcV1MvMdiZWtPkzLXx2k88M4WjEYJoETjSi3OD1zOBJ2uR2V_aMEtDJPuUUfqMQpDFY07fUAvlOD4xB3Riw7Ub2x61bP82hiK-osYBf0F5DEHgjho1FHxY8XETtVGUmwuCHzeNSL7U/s320/blogfarm.jpg" width="320" />

Or at my boyfriend's family cottage..

However, unfortunately due to work schedules my weekend looked more like this:

<img border="0" height="240" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoD-C0v3hvFnQ0-Yd7keNxR-xvg4IlhTFRQv2fOIkJM08hSTvtSCYX-vjkRxbHs11hjBhNLMeci1agTjbXQV8TKTxtb41hOZp8r2sXJCbEko9bxW2upif1lfGKWBCq_VA3SJwqGQ5dWEo/s320/torontooo.jpg" width="320" />

To be honest it was not as bad as I expected, I was able to lesson plan for the coming week of work, went out for dinner one evening, we even attempted to go watch the fireworks downtown then realized it would be more work then enjoyment (too many crowds= grumpy girl) and opted for cold stone ice cream instead.

Hope you had a wonderful long weekend !!!!One step at a timehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00338580119451759583noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5969801429008284675.post-25139463087921673232010-08-08T21:01:00.002-04:002011-07-03T17:18:18.717-04:00A little more detail.......So whenever I tell people about studying Food and nutrition they are quick to ask me/look at what I am eating. Often times people expect me to conform to one type of eating but the truth is I need flexibility in my diet. I have dabbled in the raw foods, veganism. vegetarianism, meatncheeseism (tried to lose weight by eating only meat and cheese for every meal)...and finally crazyism!! Crazyism is what happens when I try to create unrealistic boundaries for myself. I am at a point in my life where I am trying to build a healthy balanced relationship with food. I know what doesnt work for me but I feel I am constantly working on improving my meals and my understanding of nutrition.

So... What do I eat?

Primarly I stick to vegetarian choices.
But

I occasionally eat animal products and occasionally animals themself : ( ....organic, free-running animals... : )

Why?

Generally I find it hard when I am in social situations, say my boyfriends/friends house for dinner where the host has slaved all day to create a wonderful meal and people look at me like I am a monster with 3 eyes when all I put on my plate is a pile of vegetables.

also...

....sometimes I crave meat and I just want it. From my past I realized that creating restrictions just leads to more disappointment and guilt. Don't get me wrong I have no criticism of other peoples food beliefs every person is an individual and people should eat whatever works for them. :)One step at a timehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00338580119451759583noreply@blogger.com0
